Thorns of Righteousness

I was born like you, I was bred like you
I had a childhood like you, I had a life like you
I breathed the same air as you did, I lived in the same land as you did

But what I did not have like you is what turned everything apart
For I wasn’t stone-hearted like you, I wasn’t a bigoted soul like you
I was a kind-hearted soul unlike you, I preached the message of peace unlike you

Who are you?
You are the one who took this innocent soul, The one who took the law in his own hands
Who forgot there is the One and only Almighty God; Who, when comes to catching there is nowhere to hide.

You may not need to run now, as the law is at your side,
You can hide under the pretense of a righteous deed
Which was the most foul indeed

You may think yourself as God and do as you may please
Forget not, o dark soul, that you have paved the path of your destruction
You have signed the will of a miserable life and already living it

You may think you have obtained a great achievement
But what you do not know Is this:
You have turned your heart to stone; you have turned your mind blank
You may see but you are blind, you may hear but you are deaf

How is that you ask?
You hear sense but avert it, you see the poor but kindness has bid thee goodbye!
You see right but find it wrong, you see wrong and hold it most worthy high
You hear the truth and you hear the lies, yet you choose to be a demon most vile

Yes, I will be clear and say it: you are living an ugly life!
For no one else would tear down an innocent like that
No one else would rejoice on the very pain that I had

You killed your soul with every lash you gave me, You killed your soul with every cry you heard of me
That gleam of the eye you got with my every cry of pain, That sheer joy you got with my every drop of blood

You know what was that?
Yes, that was your conscience taking its last sigh of breath
Try as you may, now there will be no wave of humanity left in you,
For you have sent it to a wicked point of no return

Your soul is dead, you are dead;
Your soul is dead, you are dead.
The funeral may be mine but I will live forever; You may feel a victor
But mark my words, you will die unknown to the world.
